Phaedra C. Pezzullo

Phaedra C. Pezzullo is an associate professor in the College of Media, Communication, and Information at the University of Colorado Boulder. She authored the award-winning Toxic Tourism: Rhetorics of Travel, Pollution and Environmental Justice (University of Alabama Press, 2007). Pezzullo has coauthored and/or edited six additional books, including two editions of the textbook Environmental Communication and the Public Sphere (Sage, 2015, 2018, coauthored with Robert Cox), Cultural Studies and the Environment, Revisited (Routledge, 2010) and Environmental Justice and Environmentalism (MIT Press, 2007, coedited with Ronald Sandler). She also has a forthcoming collection, Green Communication and China: On Crisis, Care, and Global Futures (Michigan State University Press, 2020, coedited with Jingfang Liu). Pezzullo serves on nine editorial boards, including coediting with Salma Monani the new University of California Press book series: Environmental Communication, Power, and Culture (https://www.ucpress.edu/series/ecpc/). She has lectured throughout the United States, and internationally, including at the Grand Amphithéâtre de la Sorbonne, Université de Paris-Sorbonne in Paris, France, Fudan University in Shanghai, China, and at the Communication University of China in Beijing. An engaged scholar who bridges research with public advocacy, Pezzullo is co-founder of the Just Transition Collaborative and a co-director of Inside the Greenhouse.
