Phylis West Johnson

Phylis West Johnson, Ph.D., is director of journalism and mass communications at San Jose State University, and emeritus professor of sound and new media in the College of Mass Communication and Media Arts at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale. She is the founding editor and co-editor of Resonance: The Journal of Sound and Culture. She has published extensively in the area of sound, diversity and new media. She has edited and authored six books, three of which (including her latest) explore the role of virtual worlds and new media in the future. Her book, Redefining Journalism in an Age of Technological Advancements, Changing Demographics, and Social Issues (IGI Global Publishing), was published in March 2022.
