Prue Ahrens

Prue Ahrens is Honorary Research Fellow in the School of Social Sciences, University of Queensland. In 2015, she guest edited the special issue ‘American Photography in the Asia-Pacific’ for History of Photography. She is co-author of Across the World with the Johnsons: Visual Culture and American Empire in the Twentieth Century (2013) and co-editor of Coast to Coast: Case Histories of Modern Pacific Crossings (2010). Her research has appeared in many book collections and journals, including Shifting Focus: Colonial Australian Photography 1850–1920 (2015), American Art (2011), History Compass (2010) and Third Text (2005). She has curated and co-curated two international photography exhibitions: Tour of Paradise: An American Soldier in the South Pacific (2006) and Arthur Lavine’s Pacific Inspiration: Early Photographs in New Caledonia (2008).
