Rachael Gilmour

Rachael Gilmour is a professor of contemporary literature and postcolonial studies in the School of English and Drama at Queen Mary University of London. Her publications include Bad English: Literature, Multilingualism, and the Politics of Language in Contemporary Britain (Manchester University Press, 2020/2022); Multilingual Currents in Literature, Language & Culture (Routledge, 2017), co-edited with Tamar Steinitz; End of Empire & the English Novel since 1945 (Manchester University Press, 2011/2015), co-edited with Bill Schwarz, and Grammars of Colonialism: Representing Languages in Colonial South Africa (Palgrave Macmillan, 2006). With Claire Chambers, she was the co-editor of the Journal of Commonwealth Literature from 2016 to 2021 and is an associate editor of Wasafiri: International Journal of Contemporary Writing.
