Rachelle Dickenson
I am British, Irish, and, through my paternal grandfather, Red River Métis. Having learned about my Métis ancestry as an adult, I am guided by decolonial and Indigenous methodologies and the arts and academic communities of which I am part. I have a PhD from the School of Indigenous and Canadian Studies, Carleton University. I worked as Associate Curator in the National Gallery of Canada’s Indigenous Art Department, and co-curated Àbadakone/Continuous Fire/Feu Continuel. I’ve taught university courses in Art History, Curatorial Studies, and Indigenous Studies. My research, writing and curatorial practice focuses on relationships and distinctions between white settler and Indigenous art histories, pedagogies, and curatorial practices in Canadian exhibition and educational institutions in support of generative BIPOC and white settler arts collaborations.
