Raquel Moreira

Raquel Moreira is an associate professor of communication at Graceland University. Her research focuses on the political possibilities of transgressive performances of femininity by marginalized people of colour in Brazil. Part of Moreira’s ongoing research has been published in Women’s Studies in Communication under the title ‘“Now that I’m a whore nobody is holding me back!”: Women in favela funk and embodied politics’, an essay that received the 2017 Feminist Scholar of the Year Award from the Organization for Research on Women and Communication. Moreira’s teaching interests include race, gender and sexuality, critical intercultural communication and media.
