Rashmi Sawhney

Rashmi Sawhney is a Bangalore-based cultural theorist and associate professor in Film and Cultural Studies at Christ University. She writes on cinema and the visual arts in English and Marathi, and has published in various international books and journals. Special Issues of journals edited include: the Moving Image Review and Arts Journal (MIRAJ, 7:2, 2018) on ‘South Asian Artists’ Film and Video’, and an issue on ‘Science and Speculative Fiction’, Studies in South Asian Film and Media, 6:2, 2015. She is co-founder with Lucia Imaz King, of VisionMix (www.visionmix.info), an international network of artists, filmmakers and researchers. Curatorial work includes: Future Orbits and Video Vortex XI, both as collaterals of the 2017 Kochi Muzeris Biennial; Set.Reset on ‘Cinema and Labour’ at The House of Inquiry, Goa, 2018; and Loss and Transience at the Hong-gah museum, Taipei, 2021.
