Rebecca Ananian-Welsh
Rebecca Ananian-Welsh is a senior lecturer at the University of Queensland, TC Beirne School of Law. She has a combined interest in constitutional law and counter-terrorism, with a particular focus on press freedom and the courts. She has published widely in these fields, including one co-authored and two co-edited books. Prior to joining UQ, Rebecca held positions with the UNSW Gilbert + Tobin Centre of Public Law, and as a lawyer with DLA Piper Sydney and the Federal Attorney-General’s Department. She has received a number of awards for teaching and research, including from UQ, UNSW and the Australian Academy of Social Sciences and, together with her co-authors Andrew Lynch and Gabrielle Appleby, was shortlisted for a Queensland Literary Award for The Tim Carmody Affair: Australia’s Greatest Judicial Crisis (NewSouth Press, 2016).
