Richard Berry

Richard Berry is a noted academic in podcast studies, having written pioneering work in the field. He is a senior lecturer in radio and podcasting at the University of Sunderland, where he teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in podcast studies, radio and podcast production, and radio broadcasting. His articles on podcasting are amongst the earliest and most influential in the field, and he has sought to define podcasting as a distinct medium. He is one of the co-editors of the book Podcasting: New Aural Cultures & Digital Media (Palgrave Macmillian), published in 2018, and is also co-chair of the PodAcademics research network. He has also published work on the use of the internet and digital technologies in the UK radio industry. He is also the station manager of the University’s award-winning radio station, Spark. Most recently, he completed a Ph.D. through previously published work.
