Richard N. S. Robinson
Richard N. S. Robinson practiced as a chef, predominantly managing food service operations in the prestige club, heritage facility and hotel sectors, before joining the University of Queensland in 2005. He teaches hospitality and tourism management and his expertise and scholarship in teaching and learning are recognized by awards and advisory appointments at state, national and international levels. He was conferred his Ph.D., investigating the mobility and motivations of chefs, in 2011. His research projects explore tourism and hospitality workforce policy and planning, skills development, identifying ‘foodies’ consumer behaviours and designing and evaluating education programmes. Since 2018 he has directed a programme of research investigating the mental health and well-being of chefs. Richard is employed on an Advance Queensland Industry Research Fellowship (2020–23), to develop a tourism employment crisis and resilience strategy.
