Richard Snowden-Leak
Richard Snowden-Leak is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Liverpool. After being awarded an AHRC Doctoral Studentship, he is now researching the mental health benefits of New Weird literature, investigating specifically what author Thomas Ligotti has called ‘confrontational escapism’, the paradoxical urge of seeking out challenging fiction that depicts the very real struggles readers, and writers, are facing. His research interests also lie in capitalist realism, medical humanities, nonmedicalized approaches to mental health, and writing and trauma.
