Rita Figueiras
Rita Figueiras, is a professor in the Human Sciences Faculty at the Catholic University of Portugal (UCP), a member of the scientific board of the Human Sciences Faculty, and a coordinator of the Ph.D. programme in Communication Studies at UCP. She is also a member of the board of direc-tors at the Research Centre for Communication and Culture (CECC), and coordinator of the research line ‘Media, Technology, and Contexts’ at CECC. Her work focuses on journalism and political communication, particularly in the areas of public opinion, pundits, electoral campaigns, and, more broadly, the relationship between media and democracy. Along with journal articles and book chapters, she has published: Pundits and the Media (Lisbon: Livros Horizonte, 2005), Political Commentary and the Politics of Commentary (Lisbon: Paulus, 2008) and The Media and the European, General and Local Elections in Portugal (Ed.) (Lisbon: UCEditora, 2012).
