Robert Beavers

Robert Beavers, born in Massachusetts in 1949, made his first film in New York in 1966, encouraged by the freedom of the New American Cinema, and more precisely by Markopoulos and the other masters of montage. Beavers relocated to Europe with Markopoulos in 1967, and since then he has made films in Greece, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany and Italy. Retrospectives of his films have been presented at the Whitney Museum of American Art, Tate Modern, BAMPFA (Berkeley) and Austrian Filmmuseum. In 2017, the Filmmuseum published a collection of essays on his filmmaking. He resides in Berlin.
