Robert Hewis

Robert Hewis holds an MA in decorative arts, design history, material culture from Bard Graduate Center. He is a cultural historian interested in histories of the body, of sensory experience and of gender and sexuality. His MA thesis explored the spread of coffee from the Ottoman Empire to Europe in the seventeenth-century and the anxieties around race and gender that the drink sparked upon first encounter.
