Robert Lipscomb is a doctoral candidate in the Department of English at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln. He received a BA and MA in English from the University of Texas at Arlington. In addition to twentieth-century and twenty-first century literature, he studies critical theory with an emphasis on queer theory and queer studies. The bulk of his graduate research has been devoted to the history and legacy of the AIDS crisis both in regard to the community of gay men in the United States and the ongoing global pandemic. His research proposes new ways of understanding both the event of AIDS and what that event reveals about the formation of the current gay male identity.
