Rodrigo Chocano

Rodrigo Chocano (Ph.D. Indiana University, 2020) is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage at the Smithsonian Institution and an adjunct professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru. His scholarship analyses the relationship between music, cultural heritage and grassroots agency among grassroots musical communities in Latin America and South Asia. He has authored two books on Peruvian coastal music and several articles on music and heritage in English and Spanish. His work on music, heritage and global politics is informed by his professional experience in public sector organizations such as UNESCO and the Peruvian Ministry of Culture.
