Rui Alexandre Novais

Rui Alexandre Novais (Ph.D., University of Kent, United Kingdom) is a researcher and auxiliary invited lecturer at Universidade Católica Portuguesa/CEFH. His interests lie in the broader fields of communication and journalism, and he recently published on populism and the media, disinformation in political campaigning (Southern Communication Journal), the media reporting of campaigns (Observatório/OBS*), social media and activism (Igi Global) and press independence and autonomy (Pauta Geral). He is the coordinator for Portugal and Cabo Verde of the Project Worlds of Journalism and the principal investigator of the project ‘Mapping risk and uncertainty for journalism in lusophone countries: An intercontinental study’ financed by the Portuguese national funding agency for science, research and technology – FCT (2020.03101.CEECIND, 2021–26).
