Rummy Gill
Rummy Gill is a visual artist who is originally from the United Kingdom and now lives between Toronto and Vancouver, Canada. As an artist, she has shown her work since the early 2000s in Toronto, Mississauga, Montreal and Los Angeles. Rummy’s work lends itself to a collaborative mix of paint, printmaking and technology. The work is representative of historical sources, in particular textiles and architecture. By amalgamating these sources she is showing an abstract representation of who she is and where she comes from. Rummy holds both an BA and an MA in art history from the University of Toronto, Canada, as well as an MA in adult education from Central Michigan University, United States. Currently, Rummy is pursuing her Ph.D. in philosophy, aesthetics and art theory at the Institute of Doctoral Studies in Visual Arts, Maine, United States. Her interests lie in cartographical space, ancient artefacts and manuscripts, and interdisciplinary strategies: art, science, philosophy and geography.
