Rylan Kafara

Rylan Kafara is a Ph.D. candidate in sociocultural studies at the University of Alberta. He holds a BA and MA in history and is a community-based researcher and ethnographer. His current research focuses on how leisure practices challenge and transform conventional notions of urban marginality. Specifically, he examines not only how inner city residents navigate changes to downtown Edmonton, but also how they create their own opportunities for creativity, recreation and community support. Rylan also co-hosts a weekly punk radio show and is always looking for collaborators to create episodes on punk issues, history and activism.
