Sachiko Masuda
Sachiko Masuda is a professor at the Department of Social Sciences, Ritsumeikan University, Japan. Masuda has studied Japanese as a second foreign language and Cultural studies at Osaka University. She obtained her Ph.D. degree (Studies in Language and Culture) from Osaka University in 2000 with a thesis on images of ‘Japan’ represented in American Films. Masuda’s areas of research interest include the communication gap in the visual media, Gender Studies, Japanese TV drama and shōjo manga.
