Sally King

Sally King has recently completed her Ph.D. at De Montfort University, Leicester, United Kingdom. Her thesis examined how depictions of footwear in different versions of the fairy tale Cinderella shape and reflect the portrayal of femininity. Her publications include chapters ‘New shoes, old paths: Disney’s Cinderella(s)’ in The Palgrave Handbook of Children’s Film and Television (Palgrave Macmillan, 2019) and ‘Tailoring Cinderella: Perrault, Grimm and their beautiful heritage’ in Retelling Cinderella: Cultural and Creative Transformations of Cinderella (Cambridge Scholars, 2020), and journal article ‘Identifying the socio-economics of pantomime through Cinderella’s footwear in 2017–18 adaptations of the tale’ in Studies in Costume and Performance 4.1.
