Samuel C. Fouts
Samuel C. Fouts is an educator, musician and independent scholar from Saint Paul in Minnesota. He received his Bachelor of Arts in vocal music education (summa cum laude) from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. He has also received degrees with distinction from the University of Cambridge (M.Mus. in choral studies) and the University of Oxford (M.St. in musicology). As a choral musician, he has contributed to recordings produced in the United States, the United Kingdom and Mexico and conducted on a nationally televised broadcast in the United States. As a soloist, he specializes in Scandinavian art song. His academic interests in voice, gender and the social meanings of music have led him to research such diverse topics as Latin American pop music, the English choral tradition and early American hymnody. He is currently working on a Master of education and licensure to teach English as a second language at the University of Minnesota.
