Samuel McKay

Samuel McKay is a doctoral researcher at the University of Leeds School of Performance and Cultural Industries. His work focuses on the ways applied theatre practitioners and artists work alongside refugees, refugees seeking asylum and forced migrants. His research interrogates questions of representation, using the early writings of Gayatri Spivak to interrupt and extend trajectories of thought in applied theatre. Samuel is a community arts practitioner, theatre maker and producer. He has worked with Chol Theatre in Huddersfield for a number of years, Front Room Productions in Leeds and makes his own work across Yorkshire under the banner of Pockets Theatre.
