Sarah Bartley

Dr Sarah Bartley is a community arts practitioner and a lecturer in theatre at the University of Reading. She is part of the research team on the AHRC-funded project ‘Clean Break: Women, Theatre, Organisation and the Criminal Justice System’. More broadly, Sarah is interested in exploring the intersections of work, participation and policy at play within socially engaged performance. She has recently published Performing Welfare, a book exploring arts practices that represent and engage with the UK welfare state.
