Sarah Butcher

Sarah Butcher is a co-founding director of interactive theatre company non zero one and a freelance theatre director, lecturer and practitioner. non zero one is formed of five artists (Sarah Butcher, Cat Harrison, John Hunter, Fran Miller and Alex Turner), who came together in early 2009 at Royal Holloway, University of London. The South East-based group explores ideas of interaction, conversation and audience responsibility by looking at relationships between people and questioning when audiences become participants. Their work explores how relationships can be made and broken, how fights can be won and lost, and how experiences can be shared and deeply personal. The company is also interested in the creative application of technology in performance, using live video, projection, hidden cameras, mp3 players, radio frequency headphones, live sound mixing and the Internet. The group makes work for theatres, gallery spaces and museums, with interactivity as a focus.
