Sarah Choi

Sarah Choi is a doctoral candidate in cinema and media studies at the University of Washington, whose research interests include race and cinema, found-footage filmmaking, archival practices and critical media pedagogies. She is a recipient of American Association of University Women’s (AAUW) 2024–2025 American Fellowship. In 2021, Sarah won third place in the Society for Cinema & Media Studies (SCMS) Student Writing Award for her essay, ‘Life, death, or something in between: Photographic taxidermy in Get Out (2017)’. As a filmmaker, Sarah creates screendance and documentaries, and curates films for the Lights Dance Festival, which she founded in 2016. She was the managing editor of Feminist Media Histories: An International Journal between September 2022 and September 2023.
