Sarah Emily Brown

Sarah Emily Brown is a visual artist and researcher with an interest in the social dimensions of craft practice. Her research has an area focus on southeast Madagascar where she has worked extensively with local craftswomen. She is particularly interested in the interplay between craft process and research methodology when investigating making and is exploring filmmaking and creative practice as tools for collaboration with craftspeople. Her background is in embroidery and bookbinding and she makes conceptual artwork involving storytelling and the histories of craft and craftspeople. She is currently doing her Ph.D. at the University of Bath.
