Sarah Town

Sarah Town defended her dissertation, entitled ‘Timbeando en Nueva York: Cuban Dance Culture in Havana and New York City’, in March 2017, thus completing her Ph.D. in musicology at Princeton University. Her research examines the histories, aesthetics and circulation of Cuban timba and casino in particular and Cuban dance cultures more generally. This article emerges from a related project, examining the use of popular music and dance in filmic narratives of the Cuban Revolution.
