Sawsan Ismael Al-Assaf
Sawsan I. Al-Assaf was a senior lecturer in political science at University of Baghdad and is currently a assistant professor and deputy dean at the College of Law and Political Science, Afro-Asian Open University. She holds a BA (1997), MA (2001) and Ph.D. (2006) in political science from Baghdad University. She was also a post-doctoral fellow in anthropological studies at London School of Economics (2008) and lectured at several Iraqi academic institutions. In addition, she was a senior visiting fellow at ICSFS-Cairo, ICSS-Amman, SOAS-London University and ICHR-National University of Galway (Republic of Ireland). Her research interests include Iraqi society, Middle Eastern affairs, international studies and private military and security companies. She has authored and co-authored many books, articles and reports in national and international journals in both Arabic and English.
