Sebastian J. Lowe

Sebastian J. Lowe is a New Zealand anthropologist, musician and filmmaker. He undertook his bachelor degrees in anthropology and music at the University of Waikato. He continued his studies in music (viola performance) at the University of Bergen, Norway, before moving to Denmark to study for his MSc in visual anthropology at the University of Aarhus. He completed a thesis about taonga pūoro and composition in 2016 and has since been approved for a conjoint Ph.D. at James Cook University (Australia) and the University of Aarhus. His interests include indigenous sound worlds, ecological rights, performance practice and experimental anthropology. He is also the co-founder of Queltehue Film Collective and the blog, Word of Mouth.
