Seyram Avle

Seyram Avle is working on her Ph.D. in Communication Studies at the University of Michigan where she studies the socio-economic and cultural impact of media policy, globalization, and communication technologies. Specifically she is interested in the policies that came about after liberalization of media industries in transitioning countries, and the growth of Information & Communication Technologies (ICTs) like mobile phones and Internet in those places. She examines how these technologies and other factors impact the media environment and the implications for public culture. Seyram received her undergraduate degrees in Economics and English Literature from Brandeis University.
