Søren Askegaard
Søren Askegaard is a professor of marketing at the University of Southern Denmark in Odense, where he has served as head of studies and head of department. He has held visiting professorships in the United States, Sweden, Finland and France. His research interests lie within the field of consumer culture theory. Current research projects include globalism and localisms in consumer culture, seduction as an institutional logic, consumption of self-actualizing techniques and the social construction of health issues. He has served as an associate editor at the Journal of Consumer Research (2008–14) and is currently an editorial board member at this and three other international marketing journals. He is the co-founder of the European Doctoral School of Consumer Culture Theorizing as well as the B.Sc. programme, Market & Management Anthropology. Finally, he is the incoming president of the Consumer Culture Theory Consortium.
