Ssu-Fang Liu Jessie

Ssu-Fang Liu Jessie is a Ph.D. candidate in East Asian languages and literatures at the University of California, Irvine. Her dissertation, ‘On the road, above the sea: Geographic and bodily epistemology in Chinese and Taiwanese travelogues’, examines how geographies and bodies foreground epistemologies to construct individual identities, ethnic kinships and cultural logics in China and Taiwan. In addition, her other work includes a gender-focused project that articulates an East Asian feminism represented through the interconnections between biotechnology, women’s bodies and animal lives in popular cultures.
