Stelios Krasanakis

Stelios Krasanakis is psychiatrist, psychotherapist-drama therapist, university lecturer and theatre director. He founded the Institute of Dramatherapy AEON (aeongr@otenet.gr) in 1994, offering educational training, treatment and research in drama therapy and in expressive arts therapy up today. He lectures drama therapy at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He has been director of the drug treatment centre Thiseas from 1992 to 2016. He serves as the founding member and first president of the Hellenic Association of Dramatherapists and Playtherapists (HADP 1989), member of the board of directors of the Greek Psychiatric Association and president of the section ‘Art and Psychiatry’, founding member of the European Federation of Dramatherapy (EFD) and member of the board of directors. He also serves as the founding member of the World Alliance of Dramatherapy (WADth) and international member of the British Association of Dramatherapists (Badth). He was honoured by EATI with the international prize ‘Participant of the year’ (2001). Currently, he is director of 23 theatrical performances with plays of Samuel Beckett, Caryl Churchill, Georg Büchner, Camill Claudel, Tom Stoppard, Leonid Andreyev, Dimitris Dimitriadis and others. He is also founder and art director of Naxos Festival. His articles are published in books and scientific journals. He has been working as a collaborative editor for the drama therapy series with the publishing houses Parisianou and Pedio. He has been a consultant for several psychiatric and drama therapy journals and reviews.
