Stephan Ahrens
Stephan Ahrens is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Media Studies at Filmuniversität Konrad Wolf, Potsdam. His main research interests lie in film exhibitions, film and music/opera, Italian and Portuguese film history, as well as German cinema in the 1950s. As a curator and programmer for film museums and film institutions like the Zeughauskino (Berlin) and the Goethe-Institute South America, he has organized various retrospectives among them Strange Star: Hedy Lamarr (2019) and Opera and Cinema (2017). His journalistic writings have been published in a range of German print media, including taz.die, tageszeitung and Filmdienst. Among his recent publications: Opern für die Leinwand: Erich Wolfgang Korngolds Filmmusik im Hollywood-Melodrama (Text und Kritik, 2019).
