Steven Maynard

Steven Maynard teaches the history of sexuality in the Department of History at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario. He is the founder and ongoing co-chair of the Canadian Committee on the History of Sexuality, an affiliate of the Canadian Historical Association, and book review editor of the Journal of the History of Sexuality. Widely published in community-based venues and scholarly journals, his essay “‘The Party with God’: Michel Foucault, the Gay Left, and the Work of Theory,” appeared in Cultural History 5, 2 (2016). He is currently completing a book, The Perverts and the Police, 1880-1940.
