Summer Melody Pennell

Summer Melody Pennell is an assistant professor of English education at Truman State University. Her research interests include English education, queer theory and pedagogy, young adult literature, critical literacies, new literacies and social justice education. Her current research projects include working with K-12 teachers to apply a Critical Race Theory lens to content standards. Her book Queering Critical Literacy and Numeracy for Social Justice: Navigating the Course was published in 2019 as part of the Palgrave Macmillan Queer Studies and Education series.
