Susan Gitimu
Dr. Susan Gitimu holds a Ph.D. in film studies from Kenyatta University. She is a lecturer of film, Department of Communication Media, Film and Theatre studies, Kenyatta University. Her authored university level book is entitled, Mise-en-scene in Serial Drama Edutainment: A Case of Setting in SIRI a Locally Produced Serial Drama in Kenya (LAP, 2014). Some of her published book chapters include ‘Setting as an emblematic vehicle for verbalization of health and family planning messages: A case study of SIRI: A Kenyan serial TV drama’ and ‘Visibilizing morality in Kenyan Film’ (2022). Gitimu is also a filmmaker and some of her films include Kwina Mwihoko 1 & 2 (2013) and supervising producer The Run Away (2017). Dr Gitimu is also the awards director, Women in Film Awards (WIFA), an award which aims to empower women filmmakers by celebrating their achievements as well as raising their profile.
