Suzanne L. Burton
Dr Suzanne L. Burton is senior associate dean for the arts, director of the Partnership for Arts and Culture and professor of music education in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Delaware. Her scholarly interests are music acquisition and development, music teacher education, technology in music education and professional learning partnerships. Suzanne’s research is published in journals such as Arts Education Policy Review, Music Education Research, Journal of Music Teacher Education, Music Educators Journal, International Journal of Music in Early Childhood (IJMEC), Research Studies in Music Education and Visions of Research in Music Education. Recent books include Creative Music-Making at Your Fingertips: A Mobile Technology Guide for Music Educators (co-editor and contributor, Oxford Academic, 2022), Engaging Musical Practices A Sourcebook for Middle School General Music, 2nd edition (editor and contributor, Rowman & Littlefield, 2022) and Ready, Set, Improvise! The Nuts and Bolts Approach to Music Improvisation (co-author, Oxford University Press, 2018). Having served on numerous editorial boards, Suzanne is currently associate editor for the Americas of the International Journal of Music in Early Childhood (IJMEC) and past chair of the International Society for Music Education Early Childhood Music Education commission.
