Tendai Chisirimunhu Kathemba

All human beings should and can fulfil their potential and live with dignity, equality and health. Tendai is the founder of Abantulives, an initiative on holistic well-being. Her focus is mental health at primary health care level centring on decolonial approaches to healing and well-being. Tendai is a registered specialist wellness counsellor, country representative in South Africa for people with mental health lived experiences under the Global Mental Health Peer Network (GMHPN) as well as part of Cohort 4 Fellowship at Atlantic Fellowship Health Equity South Africa at Tekano (AFHESA). She believes a genuine connection is a foundation of good therapy. Her holistic approach situates people’s lived experiences within the systems and structures that influence and impact our everyday lives. Healing and therapy are not only a personal agency but also the collective responsibility of societies. Tendai is currently completing a master’s degree in psychology.
