Tets Kimura
Tets Kimura writes about fashion and art history, predominantly on Japan, Taiwan and Australia. His latest publications include ‘Taiwan literature in Japanese’ (Melbourne Asia Review, 2024), ‘Repatriated from home as enemy aliens: Forgotten lived experiences of Japanese Australians during WWII’ (Journal of Australian Studies, 2023), ‘Memories and displays of Japan’s early industrialisation through the production of silk’ (Routledge Handbook of Trauma in East Asia [Routledge, 2023]) and ‘Exploring the theoretical meaning of Rei Kawakubo’ (Rei Kawakubo: For and Against Fashion [Bloomsbury, 2023]). He holds a Ph.D. in international relations with Flinders University, Australia, where he holds an academic status in the creative arts. He undertook three precious fellowships – The Japan Foundation’s Japanese Studies Fellowship (2021–22), National Library of Australia Fellowship (2023–24) and Taiwan’s Ministry of Education Postdoctoral Research Fellowship (2024) – and will undertake Sir William Dobell Visiting Fellowship (Australian National University) in 2025.
