Tijana Cupic
Tijana Cupic is a Ph.D. candidate in Spanish at Boston University’s Department of Romance Studies. Her research interests focus on contemporary Latin American literature and film, examining the affective politics of migrations in transnational contexts – Mexico, Central America and the Balkans. She has published papers on films about the United States–Mexican border, the relationships between Latin America and Yugoslavia, and the connections between organized crime and state in Mexico and Columbia. Currently, Tijana is working on her dissertation, which compares contemporary Mexican and post-Yugoslav literature, and on a fellowship project about the influence of contemporary storytelling forms (Central American novels, poetry and films) on immigration policies.
