Tobias Malm
Tobias Malm is a Ph.D. student in education at Stockholm University. His overarching interest is in self-organized groups, particularly within the area of creativity and artistry. In his current Ph.D. project, he examines conditions and challenges with regard to the formation and development of such practices. These are mainly based on ethnographic close-up studies of several pop and rock bands within a range of amateurs to semi-professionals. This interest has been influenced by his previous education at Stockholm Institute of Music Education, Piteå College of Music and Luleå University of Technology, in addition to his background as a secondary school music teacher, after-school pop and rock band activities organizer and member in punk rock and metal bands. Presently, at Stockholm University, he is affiliated to the Department of Education and the research group of organizational pedagogy. In addition, he is a member of an external network for researchers within and around music and music education in Stockholm.
