Tom McGuirk

Tom McGuirk is senior lecturer in fine art, University of Chester. He holds a BA (Hons) in painting (1984) and a Ph.D. (2003) from The National College of Art and Design (NCAD), Dublin. He was lecturer at NCAD (1990–2003) and at KEA (formerly BEC Design), Copenhagen (2005–08) and was research fellow: Nottingham Trent University (2008–09). Publications include the anthology (co-edited), Artistic Research: Strategies for Embodiment (NSU Press, 2015), an essay ‘When art turns its back on the body’ in James Elkins’s book, What Do Artists Know? (Penn State University Press, 2012) and a book chapter (co-authored) in Somaesthetics and Design Culture (Brill, 2023), editors: Richard Shusterman and Balint Veres.
