Tom Ryan

Dr Tom Ryan is now retired. Previously, he taught anthropology at the University of Waikato, with a focus on Aotearoa and the Pacific. He has researched and published on a wide range of topics, including the European representations of Antipodeans as monsters, Captain Cook’s encounters with Indigenous peoples, anthropological thinking about/from Oceania and the cultural history of Niue.
