Udita Bhargava
Udita Bhargava is a filmmaker working in India and Germany. She has recently completed her debut feature DUST. Her short films have screened at film festivals across the world. Her last short, Imraan, c/o Carrom Club (2014) was screened at such venues as Hot Docs Toronto, Oberhausen Kurzfilmtage and Bilbao Festival of Documentary and Short Film. It won the 3SAT award at the Oberhausen Film Festival and was acquired by Germany’s ZDF/ 3SAT. Udita has worked as on films such as Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire (2008), Lars von Trier’s Antichrist (2009), Mira Nair’s The Migration (2008) and Anurag Basu’s Life in a Metro (2007). She holds a Master’s degree in mass communications and a Bachelor’s degree in English literature. Here, following her own journey as a filmmaker, she gives an account of the changes that have taken place in the film industry and have impacted the work and thought of a new generation of filmmakers.
