Urs Axel Georg Dierker

Urs Axel Georg Dierker is an award-winning costume maker and doctoral researcher at the Department of Art at Northumbria University focused on sustainable transitions in film and stage costume. He started his career at the German State Opera in Berlin as a journeyman in men’s tailoring, before studying Visual Communication (BA, University of Applied Science Bielefeld, Germany) and Fine Art Sculpture (PGD, Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design, Tel Aviv, Israel). In 2010, Dierker moved to Toronto, Canada working on film and TV productions and earning an MA in interdisciplinary studies at York University. In 2019, he collaborated with material scientists at Aalto University in Helsinki, Finland on bio-colourants and biomaterials. In 2020, he founded the Circular Costume Design platform. He lives and works in London.
