Uwe Grodd

Uwe Grodd’s contributions to classical music have brought him worldwide acclaim as flautist, conductor, editor and teacher. He has made world premiere recordings of more than 70 works. Grodd won First Prize at the Cannes Classical Awards 2000 for Best 18th Century Orchestral Recording for his CD of Vaňhal Symphonies, twice earned Gramophone magazine’s Editor’s Choice as well as the International Record Review Outstanding industry award. A graduate of Mainz University, Germany, Uwe Grodd studied with teachers of international repute including André Jaunet, Robert Aitken and Maestro Sergio Celibidache. Uwe Grodd is Professor Emeritus of Music at the University of Auckland and has been Music Director of the Manukau Symphony Orchestra since its inception in 1993.
