Valentina Ippolito

Valentina Ippolito is a tutor in European Cinema at Oxford University. Her current research focuses on the representation of Romanian migrants in contemporary Italian and Romanian cinema. Valentina is an award-winning filmmaker whose documentary projects focus on the representation of social identities and minorities, including work on gender roles, male warrior culture in China, women and babies behind bars, self-representation of female sexuality and also the migrant identity. Recent films have been screened at Film Festivals in Bosnia, Brazil, China, Holland, India, Italy, Romania, Slovenia, the United Kingdom and the United States. She also founded the Pembroke Film Masterclass series at Oxford University, bringing together students, academics and film critics to discuss and celebrate the art of cinema.
