Van Dyk Lewis

Van Dyk Lewis is an associate professor of fibre science and apparel design at Cornell University. Van Dyk Lewis has been an associate professor at Cornell University since 2001. He completed a Ph.D in art anthropology at BIAD and an undergraduate degree in fashion and textiles at Middlesex University. Van Dyk’s work considers fashion’s interpellation within various societies: the research utilizes design anthropology and philosophy. He is especially interested in meaning and value that affect definitions of fashion. Further, he examines new knowledge and the significant issues of our times affecting fashion. Van Dyk’s current studio practice develops links between biomimetic design and radical sustainable design.
